Week 3: Foundation Walls and Slab Pour

This week centered on completing the foundation walls and meticulously preparing for the crucial slab pour.  While the foundation walls cured, we focused on the necessary groundwork.  Water and sewer lines were run from the street, terminating just inside the foundation.

A vital step was damp-proofing the exterior foundation walls with a tar-like substance, protecting the concrete from ground moisture. The surrounding area was then backfilled and compacted, with extra soil added to account for settling.

We also dedicated time to preparing the foundation for the slab. This involved ensuring a level surface, free of debris, and often includes the installation of vapor barriers and reinforcement materials like rebar or wire mesh.  These preparations are essential for a strong and stable slab.  Next week, we anticipate pouring the slab itself, so stay tuned for that exciting update!
