Week 9: Weatherproofing, Mechanical Rough-in, and Cladding Prep

This week was a busy one as we made significant progress on several fronts. We completed the installation of the weather-resistant barrier, a crucial step in protecting our single-story home from the elements. This barrier now covers the exterior sheathing, providing a vital shield against moisture and wind. With this layer of protection in place, we're confident that the structure is well-prepared for the exterior cladding.

In addition to weatherproofing, we also focused on the rough-in of all the mechanical systems. This involved installing the initial plumbing, electrical, and HVAC lines within the walls and floors. While these systems won't be fully functional until later in the construction process, getting the rough-in done now allows us to coordinate everything before the walls are closed up. This ensures that everything is properly placed and avoids costly rework later on.

Finally, we began preparing for the installation of the exterior cladding. This involved inspecting the weather-resistant barrier, ensuring it's properly sealed and free of any damage. We also started gathering the necessary materials for the cladding, ready to transform the look of the house in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for next week's update as we begin installing the exterior finish!
